Nordstrom Opens Three-Level Store at Santa Monica Place

Nordstrom has joined Bloomingdale's, Burberry, Louis Vuitton and other high-end retailers at the recently opened Santa Monica Place. Nordstrom opened a 122,000 square foot, three-level store.
The store includes designer fashion brands from progressive designers such as Alexander Wang, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Elizabeth and James, Halston Heritage, Current Elliot for Marni and Rag & Bone. The store also offers Marc Jacobs, Jimmy Choo, and Dolce & Gabbana handbags, as well as footwear from Giuseppe Zanotti, Manolo Blahnik, Valentino and Burberry. Amenities include in-store alterations and tailor shop, certified bra and prosthesis fitters, and Personal Stylist -- a complimentary wardrobe and shopping service. The store will also feature two food offerings: a Blue Stove restaurant and an espresso bar.

You know how irritated we get with Ryan Seacrest because he never asks stars who they're wearing on the red carpet? Well at tonight's Emmy Awards red carpet Kim Kardashian saved the day. Kim -- who looked the best she's ever looked in her life -- was just stunning in a white grecian gown by Marchesa, a simple updo and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. She was talking to Ryan when Lea Michele stopped by. Ryan introduced them and they hit it off immediately. They laughingly kicked Ryan off his podium and interviewed each other.
Kim got more fashion info out of Lea than Ryan had gotten all night long. Lea was wearing a navy blue full length Oscar de la Renta gown with a statement necklace by Lorraine Schwartz. Funniest moment: when Kim asked Lea if she was wearing body makeup and did she just get it all over her (Kim was very protective of that Marchesa white gown). Lea said it was just a bit of glitter. Terms LBD and Matchy-Matchy Added to Oxford Dictionary of English

The Oxford Dictionary of English (ODE) has added 200 new words and phrases in its latest edition. LBD is one of the words. Julia Robert's 2010 Golden Globes vintage black Yves Saint Laurent dress dress is pictured above. You can see the list here. "Matchy-matchy," which is sometimes said by Project Runway judges, was also added to the ODE. The definition used is "excessively color-coordinated."

Foursquare Adds 3 Millionth Member

 TechCrunch reports that Foursquare's smartphone check-in service has added its 3 millionth member. Foursquare's big ads in Times Square could be helping to fuel its growth.
The location based social network has been adding users at impressive rates, and only hit 2 million users in early July. It took a year to reach one million; three months to hit 2 million, and a month and a half to hit 3 million.
Foursquare lets users earn points and unlock badges for discovering new places and things. If you visit a place more than anyone you can become the mayor of that place. Restaurants and retailers may also offer specials and discounts to frequent Foursquare visitors.
TechCrunch says a couple of Foursquare's competitors - Booyah's My Town and Loopt - have already hit 3 million users.

Police: Paris Opened Her Purse to Get Lip Balm and Cocaine Came Flying Out

The Las Vegas police have given a press conference explaining how Paris Hilton came to be arrested for cocaine possession. After the police stopped the car (which was billowing fragrant marijuana smoke), the police escorted Paris and Cy into a security room at a Wynn hotel (where Cy works). Paris reached into her purse for some lip balm and a bag of white powder came flying out.
Naturally the police picked up the bag and had the powder tested. It was cocaine. Other reports say the entire incident was caught by the hotel security cameras. Oh, Paris. What were you thinking?? ITN reports:

Marchesa to Launch Makeup Collection for Le Metier de Beaute

Marchesa designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig have launched a makeup collection with Le Metier de Beaute. InStyle reports that Marchesa used Sandra Bullock's Oscar dress as inspiration for the makeup collection's packaging.
Marchesa told InStyle, "That dress was such an iconic moment for us. We wanted the products to feel just as glamorous. Like a mini Oscar and personal makeup artist rolled into one."
The Cut says the Marchesa collection will go on sale September 10th and will be sold exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. Prices for items in the collection will range from $38 and $65.

Night Out With Paris Hilton May Have Ruined Cy Waits' Career

reports that Paris Hilton's boyfriend Cy Waits has been fired from his position as the co-head of nightclub operations for Wynn and Encore properties in Las Vegas, Nevada. Cy and his twin brother are self-made successes, who worked their way to the top of the nightclub tree in Vegas. Now, it appears that one night with Paris may have destroyed his career. E! reports:
E! News has exclusively learned from multiple sources that Waits was fired from his position as head of nightclub operations for Wynn and Encore properties shortly after the couple's Las Vegas arrest. Waits was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Hilton was rung up on a cocaine-possession count.
Steve Wynn had just promoted Waits and twin brother Jesse to the high-profile gig Wednesday, but he was promptly dismissed just hours after being jailed.
"Wynn has a zero-tolerance policy with their club execs when it comes to brushes with the law," said one Las Vegas insider.
If this is true, that one night with Paris was a costly one. We're assuming his twin brother still has his job, though.
