Thaksin Shinawatra, Thailand's former prime minister, and his supporters have vowed to fight back against a court order to seize more than $1bn of his frozen assets. Thaksin, who is in self-imposed exile in the United Arab Emirates, said on Saturday that he disagreed with the verdict issued a day earlier ordering $1.4bn of his assets confiscated on charges of abuse of power.
